Birds are known for being some of the best singers in the world (well, unless you’re into that whale song nonsense), and what better way to show off all that natural talent than Karaoke Night?
Tonight, I have gone to the work of translating the birds’ beautiful music so you and I can finally know what our feathered friends are singing about! So without further ado...
Hepatic Tanager
“You can find me in da shrub, belly full of grubs
look mami I got the tree if you into goin’ ‘yum’
I’m into having snacks, I ain’t into making love
so come gimme a hug if you into fillin’ tums!”
So... 50 Cent in da shrub, apparently.
Red-cheeked Cordon-bleu
“It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred birds or more could ever do
I left some grains down in Aaaaaaafrica
Gonna take some time to eat the things we never had (ooh, ooh)“
Another emotional song about food... I guess he must’ve forgotten to pack his grains when he left Africa, and that scarred him.
Blue Jay
“My private eyes
They’re watching you
They see your every move
Private eyes
They’re watching you
Private eyes
They’re watching you watching
You watching you watching you”
Creepy, but then again this is Blue Jay we’re talking about...
“Vroom vroom vroom. Vroom
vroom vroooooooooom vrooom,
vroom!!!”
*sniff* Never before have I heard such a beautiful cover of “Never gonna give you up”. Well done, Reliant Robin!
Orchard Oriole (new bird!)
“And the cat eats the baby with a silver spoon, Little Boy Blue and the man in the moon.
When we meet again son, I don’t know when. But we’ll be together then.
We’re gonna have a good time then.”
Woah... Many humans find the song “Cat’s in the cradle” to be haunting, and apparently it’s the same way with birds, but for entirely different reasons...
Baltimore Oriole
“Life is a thermal updraft
I want to glide it all night long
If you’re going my way
Well, I want to glide it all night long!”
Thermal updrafts are like the highways of the sky... Nothin’ like gliding on a giant Earth fart, as they say!
American Robin
“He rocks in the treetops all day long
Hoppin’ and a-boppin’ and singing his song
All the little birdies on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet
Rockin’ robin, rock rock
Rockin’ robin’
Blow rockin’ robin
‘Cause we’re really gonna rock tonight!”
...
I mean, what did you expect?
Hepatic Tanager (female)
“I KISSED A SQUIRREL AND I LIKED IT!
The taste of her nutty breath
I kissed a squirrel just to try it!
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m a furry tonight
I kissed a squirrel and I liked it!
I LIKED IT!!!”
Um... UM ...

Didn’t know I needed Lego birds singing songs until I knew I needed them just now.

Ooh the Baltimore Oriole and the Orchard Oriole are quite the singers. The new bird in particular has come out with a bang.
You might say that female heptic tanager has gone nutty.

Baltimore - loved the details.
And throwing the Reliant Robin in there was just genius. =)

Really? What kind of posts do they feature? Do they get more traffic than in here?

It’s an off-topic car-themed group blog. Like Live and Let Diecast, except for any and all things car-related, plus the occasional post about dogs, food, Lego, etc. It does get much more traffic than Live and Let Diecast, since many users abandoned LaLD after the great Kinja scare from a while back, but many more users stuck with Oppositelock or returned after the panic died down, so it’s a much larger community. I think you would like it! Here’s the link so you can ask to be granted authorship: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/clubopenings-propaganda-1836633896

How did you get this post to show up in LALD and opposite lock?

I actually didn’t. Somebody on both LaLD and Oppositelock shared this post to LaLD.
